Overview
Skyroot is a rare crop found in rugged, mountainous areas. Unlike regular herbs or flowers, you cannot pick it by hand. Its deep roots require a shovel to dig up, and it is often tied to research quests or crafting recipes (such as stamina-related items).
Step 1 - Get a Shovel#
Purchase a basic shovel from equipment or provisioner vendors in Hernand (look for Alden's shop or similar merchants near the central area).
Alternatively, a free shovel is almost always available at the main Skyroot spot itself (leaning against a wooden post or tree stump near the trees).
Step 2 - Head to the Main Location#
Go to the hill in western Hernand, just west of the Kilnden Workshop (north of the supply tent at the crossroads toward Warpike East Gate).
Look for a thorny thicket on the hill containing two small trees with star-shaped leaves. This is the reliable early-game patch, often yielding around 10 Skyroot nodes.
Step 3 - Harvest the Skyroot#
Equip the shovel (use your equipment radial menu or wheel so it is actively held in your hands).
Walk in tight circles around the base of the two small trees.
When the "Shovel" prompt appears on screen (while focusing on the area), press the indicated button to dig.
You do not need to perfect aiming. Simply having the shovel out and being close to the trees will trigger the prompt. Each successful dig yields Skyroot, which sells for a small amount of silver or serves research and crafting purposes.

The nodes typically take about 7 in-game days to regenerate after full harvesting.
