After exorcists sent to a remote Spanish village go silent, the Final Rites unit is deployed. Investigate sites corrupted by failed rituals, explore hostile environments, fight the undead, and perform sacred rites to contain entities emerging from a breach beyond reality.
CONFIDENTIAL REPORT, ARCHIVE COPY
After a series of unexplained incidents in a remote village in northern Spain, a group of exorcists was dispatched. No further communication was received.
Following the loss of contact, a secondary unit was authorized.
Designation: FINAL RITES.
This unit is not tasked with absolution.
Its purpose is containment.
What began as a localized religious disturbance has escalated into a spreading condition affecting the entire region.
The village appears intact, yet abandoned. Signs of daily life remain undisturbed, but no inhabitants are present.
Inside, reality itself shows signs of instability:
Entities encountered are not fully understood.
The dead do not remain at rest. Termination does not guarantee neutralization.
Some entities resemble former inhabitants. Others do not correspond to any known form of life.
In multiple cases:
Destruction alone is insufficient.
Something remains.
Certain locations act as transition points between realities.
These are not conventional portals, but unstable openings where:
Personnel have reported crossing into environments that do not exist within known geography.
Some have not returned.
Initial ritual procedures did not eliminate the presence.
They altered it.
What was once contained is now unbound.
The situation is no longer a haunting.
It is a spreading condition.
You are part of the FINAL RITES unit.
A military esoteric squad deployed when exorcism fails.
Your mission is to:
You will explore abandoned structures, forests, and underground sites while confronting the aftermath of failed rites.
Some threats can be destroyed.
Others must be bound.
Engagement alone is insufficient.
What is encountered must be contained.
Recovered records from the first unit include the following:
“We thought it was inside the village. It is not. The village is inside it.”
