Field of Arms: Tactics is a strategy game set in the 18th century Caribbean, recreating clashes between the empires of the time for control of trading routes, enterprises and territories.
With a unique board game aesthetic, players will have to manage time, resources and armies via three seamlessly integrated game layers; a strategic overworld view of the Caribbean for logistics; a city building scape for production and training of units; a tactical map to defend or attack strongholds in sieges and deploy and maneuver units during tense battles
OVERWORLD (STRATEGIC LAYER)
In this mode, players start with one capital city and they will have to explore to find resources, construct buildings to extract them, in order to further improve their city. This economic layer is built around the relation of resources and production. Players will have to battle against enemy empires competing for these resources and cities, they will also have to deal with both natives and maroon (escaped slaves) encampments, pirates who roam the map will routinely try to sack player-built structures and cities.
CITY BUILDING (MANAGEMENT LAYER)
In this mode, players will plan and build a new world city, deciding in which economic activities to focus and what types of workshops to construct, giving them access to different units, manufactured goods and bonuses. Taxes and upkeep play an important role in the game, so the player will have to decide how to best spend their available resources.
BATTLES (TACTICAL LAYER):
Battles will take place in separate battlefields in real time battles with a tactical pause system, where every move and action counts, the player will need to be aware of each of their unit’s defensive and offensive capabilities, and also the type of terrain they are standing on.
