Hytale Update 3 Is Live: Animal Taming, Map Markers, and the Cursebreaker Arc Begins
Four weeks into Early Access, Hytale's third update has arrived Hytale, and it's shaping up to be the most well-rounded patch since launch.

Tame the World
Hypixel Studios continues to move at a pace that would make most AAA studios blush, and Update 3 shows they're not slowing down.
The headline feature is animal taming. Some of the friendlier animals you encounter can now be tamed by holding their favorite food. Tamed animals won't run away from players unless attacked, and will occasionally greet them, and some can be milked, sheared, or even mounted. It's an early version, but it's a big step toward making Orbis feel like a living world rather than just a survival sandbox.
Quality of Life All Around
Beyond taming, Update 3 strengthens nearly every system players interact with daily — maps are smarter, combat is smoother, farming is easier, modding tools are more stable, and character customization is deeper. Highlights include custom map markers with names, icons, and colors (shareable in multiplayer), avatar presets to save and swap between up to five looks, and early-game crafting that now happens instantly, so new players get up to speed faster.
Localization Expands the Community
Brazilian Portuguese and Russian have been added as the first new in-game language options, kicking off the first phase of Hytale's localization efforts — with more languages on the way in the coming weeks, thanks to community translators.
The Road Ahead: Cursebreaker Chapters
Perhaps the most interesting news is what Update 3 signals about the long-term roadmap. Beyond regular updates, Hypixel Studios is building "chapters" — larger content drops that will unfold the Cursebreaker arc in Exploration Mode, chapter by chapter, until the final chapter puts Orbis within reach and the game steps into full release. Think of it less like a live service and more like a serialized story that grows the game toward its complete vision.
Update 4 Is Already Coming
If that wasn't enough, Update 4 is already in active development, with a pre-release build arriving just two days after Update 3 goes live, bringing world backup systems, automatic save protection, and corruption recovery.
For a game that was cancelled just eight months ago, the comeback story keeps getting better. Whether you're in for the survival gameplay, the creative tools, or just to witness one of gaming's most improbable resurrections, now is a great time to be in Orbis.
